Lets Talk About Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic counselling starts from the idea that emotional distress stems from unresolved conflicts in ourselves. Problems like depression, anxiety and unexplained anger are often symptoms of underlying emotional wounds, or traumas which have been 'buried' rather than being fully experienced. The task of this kind of counselling is to put you in touch with as much of your difficult feelings as you can bear. Often this will involve exploring childhood experiences which you may never really have spoken about before. It is not easy to face distressing feelings but the counsellor will be alongside you at every step and will go only where you feel able to go.
