Climbing [CHALLENGE] to fund mental health support in Inverclyde

[YOUR NAME]'s [EVENT NAME] challenge for MindMosaic

Fundraising story

I'm taking on [CHALLENGE] to raise money for MindMosaic Counselling and Therapy - a mental health charity based in Greenock that helps people across Inverclyde access counselling and therapy, no matter what they can afford to pay.

Mental health support shouldn't depend on how much money you have. But for a lot of people in Inverclyde, long NHS waiting lists and the cost of private therapy means they're left without help when they need it most.

MindMosaic never turns anyone away at the point of need - and every pound raised goes directly to funding sessions for people who can't afford to pay. £60 funds one full counselling session.

[ADD YOUR PERSONAL REASON HERE - e.g. 'Mental health support has made a real difference in my own life, and I want to help make sure other people can access it too.']

Please donate if you can. Every amount counts. Thank you for supporting something that makes a real difference to real people in our community.

Select all, copy, paste into JustGiving, then personalise.

2. Social media posts

Posting at three points - when you sign up, just before your event, and after - will raise significantly more than once.

Announcement - when you sign up

I've signed up for [CHALLENGE] and I'm raising money for MindMosaic - a mental health charity right here in Greenock that helps people access counselling when they can't afford it.

£60 funds one full counselling session for someone who'd otherwise go without support. If you can spare anything, I'd be so grateful.

A personal message sent directly to someone will almost always raise more than a public post.

Top tip

People who feel awkward asking often soften it too much. A direct ask is kinder than a vague one - most people are happy to donate when they understand what it pays for.

4. Thank your donors

Thanking people properly matters. It makes them feel valued and means they're far more likely to support you.

WhatsApp or text

Hi [NAME],

I wanted to say a personal thank you for donating to my [CHALLENGE] for MindMosaic.

It genuinely means a lot. Knowing your donation will make a direct difference to someone in our community is brilliant.

5. How to ask without feeling awkward

Asking people for money feels uncomfortable for most people. Here’s how to make it easier.

01

Lead with the why

Don't start with 'can you donate?' Start with why you're doing it. Once people understand what the money does, the ask feels natural.

02

Be specific

'£60 funds one session' is far more compelling than 'any donation helps'. Specific numbers make the impact real.

03

Ask directly

Softening it too much makes people less likely to give. 'Would you be able to donate?' is a perfectly good question.

04

Don’t apologise

You're giving people a chance to help someone access mental health support. That's a good thing to ask for.

05

Follow up once

If someone liked your post but hasn't donated, one gentle message is fine. Most people mean to and forget.

06

Thank people properly

A personal thank-you means they're far more likely to give again - to you or the next MindMosaic fundraiser.
